Community Outreach

New England Culinary Institute is privileged to support many of the worthwhile organizations that provide goods and services to so many in the Vermont community.  Our students take great pride in the work they do for our local community, as well as their home states and countries. All students perform a minimum of 4 hours of service learning as part of their required service learning independent study.

NECI’s Service Learning Rationale

“This Independent Study is designed to increase students’ awareness of the social conditions in their local community, to make students aware of the importance of sharing in community affairs, and to provide the opportunity for students to work together cooperatively outside of the classroom and lab.”

Service Learning opportunities are advertised through email and published on the student services calendar. Students needing assistance locating a volunteer site receive one on one support from the student services department to match their skills and interests with a local organization or specific community event.

The students of New England Culinary Institute take great pride it their work and we are proud of their accomplishments. Over 1600 hours of service are performed each year, in Vermont and throughout the nation, by NECI students.  Organizations that NECI has worked with include the following:
